What it measures
The Experiences in Close Relationships-Revised (ECR-R) was developed by R. Chris Fraley, Niels Waller and Kelly Brennan (2000). Its 36 statements measure two dimensions of romantic attachment: anxiety, which is worry about being left or not loved back, and avoidance, which is discomfort with closeness and with depending on a partner. Each answer scores 1 to 7, some in reverse, and each dimension is the average of its 18 statements, from 1 to 7.
This is not a verdict
The scores describe how you tend to feel in romantic relationships today, not what is wrong with you. The author advises against sorting people into attachment types by their scores.
