What it measures
The Self-Compassion Scale Short Form (SCS-SF) by Raes, Pommier, Neff and Van Gucht has 12 statements from Kristin Neff's full scale. They cover self-kindness and self-judgment, common humanity and isolation, mindfulness and over-identification. Each answer scores 1 to 5, six statements in reverse, and the result is the average from 1 to 5.
This is not a verdict
The scale has no clinical norms. The ranges are a rough guide from the scale's author, and self-compassion can be learned.
