Psychodrama questions

How do I choose a psychodrama training?

Full training is long, so compare total hours, whether personal group experience and supervised practice are included, and who certifies the result. Example from the organisers: the London Centre diploma runs four years with ten weekends a year. Check whether the institute is on a federation or board list such as FEPTO or AANZPA.

How is psychodrama different from sociodrama?

In psychodrama the problem of one person, the protagonist, is enacted. In sociodrama the theme belongs to the group. Both draw on sociometry and role theory.

Can psychodrama be used one to one?

Yes. The British Psychodrama Association says it can be used in a group or individually for therapy and personal growth, and also in family and couples therapy.

Who certifies psychodramatists in the US?

The American Board of Examiners in Psychodrama, Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy certifies Certified Practitioners (CP) and Trainer, Educator and Practitioners (TEP), and also has a Supervised Practitioner stage. Requirements are on the board’s site and depend on the stage. Other countries have their own bodies, for example AANZPA in Australia and New Zealand.
