How it’s calculated
How we calculated and how far to trust the figures
- How we collected the data
- 1,169 profiles of Russian-speaking therapists with a stated session price. We collect them by hand and through the anonymous survey on the prices page. Data as of October 31, 2026. The page calculates typical prices and ranges by group; the browser receives profiles without names, links, quotes or exact years of experience.
- Official figures
- The rates and salaries in the “Rates and salaries by country” table are published by government agencies and professional councils. We keep them apart from private practice prices and do not convert them into session prices: they measure something else.
- Cities weighted equally
- We took roughly 10–20 profiles from each city. So the country price is calculated as if every city had the same number of therapists: a small city weighs as much as Moscow.
- Currencies
- We convert all prices to rubles at the rate on October 31, 2026, and from rubles to dollars, euros and local currencies at the same rate.
- What we left out
- Sessions longer than 75 minutes, package prices, and prices below 500 ₽ or above 40,000 ₽. Cities in disputed territories.
- Experience
- Experience comes from the profile. If the therapist did not state it, it is estimated from the year of their first psychology training.
- Approaches
- Approaches from the profiles are matched to the Sessio list of approaches. Those without a match (for example, “Coaching”, “Hypnosis”, “NLP”) are shown under their own names and grouped under “Other” in the selection list.
- Too few profiles
- If a country, city or group has fewer than 4 profiles, we do not shade it on the map or calculate a typical price. Place lists include places with 10 or more profiles, and the breakdown by approach includes approaches with 30 or more. A city with 1–3 profiles is not shown on the map; its profiles count toward the country price.
- Typical price and usual range
- Typical price: half of therapists charge less, half charge more. Usual range: the prices of the middle half of therapists, without the cheapest quarter and the most expensive quarter.
- Monthly income
- Session price × sessions per week × 4.3 weeks. This is before taxes, rent and supervision.
- Your answers
- Anonymous answers from the prices page appear on the map after review and are counted together with the profiles.
