Import from Zoom

Move your past Zoom sessions
into Sessio

Importing from Zoom in Sessio moves the sessions you have already recorded into your account. You show Sessio where your Zoom recordings are, check which client each one belongs to, and the latest 10 sessions are brought in by default. Each session then gets a transcript, a Summary and a note, like a session recorded in Sessio.

Shown on the first launch of a new account, while it has no clients or sessions. The import is in the Sessio app for a Mac with Apple Silicon. Sessio is free during the beta.

What is brought in

What Sessio brings in
and how it decides

The import reads audio files on your Mac and does not connect to your Zoom account. This is what it does with what it finds.

WhatHow Sessio handles it
Zoom recordingsThe audio of meetings from your Zoom folder: m4a, mp3 or wav. The date and time come from the name of the meeting folder in Zoom, or from the file itself. Video and chat are skipped.
Other recordingsSeparate audio files from a voice recorder or other apps, chosen with "Choose files". The date comes from the file.
Which clientIn this order: the name in Zoom's separate audio file for each participant, if you switched that on in Zoom; the meeting topic; the weekly time. With no name, Sessio shows the time it grouped the recordings by and asks you to type the name. It is a guess: you can rename, merge or drop any client.
Which sessionsThe 10 latest sessions are ticked by default. The other clients and recordings are under "Show", and before you bring anything in you can add or remove any session.
Set asideCalls shorter than 15 minutes or longer than 120, supervision, your own therapy and groups. Sessio judges by the meeting topic (words in Russian and English), the number of people and the length. They are listed in one line, and "It's a client" puts a meeting back.
Duplicates and partsA recording found twice is brought in once. Two parts of one meeting on the same day, with a short gap, become one session.

How it works

From the welcome screen to the first Summary
in five steps

The import runs in three windows: where the recordings are, which clients Sessio found, and the progress of the upload.

No old recordings? The window says so and "Got it" closes it: record your next session in Sessio instead.

  1. Open the welcome screen. On the first launch of a new account, while it has no clients or sessions, the welcome screen "Let's create your first analysis" has a line "Bring in sessions from Zoom". Press it.
  2. Say where the recordings are. In the window "Where did you record your sessions?" press "Find" in the Zoom row. If nothing turns up, press "Choose another folder" and pick the folder with your Zoom recordings. Add loose files under "Other recordings" with "Choose files", then press "Next".
  3. Check the clients. The next window lists the clients Sessio found. Correct the names. If one client appears twice, open the name field and pick the other client under "From these recordings", marked "same person". Drop anyone you do not want with the trash button next to the name ("Don't bring in"). You can listen to a recording: the button appears next to the date when you hover over it.
  4. Bring them in. Press "Bring in 10 sessions" (the number follows your selection). Sessio creates the clients and uploads the recordings as ordinary files, oldest first for each client, with the date of the meeting.
  5. Wait for the Summaries. Each client's row goes from "Waiting" and "Uploading" to "Preparing analyses" and "Done". The app says the first analysis will be ready in a couple of minutes while the rest keep loading. You can minimize the window, and "Open clients" appears at the end.

Limits

What the import does
and what it does not promise

It is a first-launch step for people who already have Zoom recordings on their Mac. It is not a general importer.

Does

  • Read m4a, mp3 and wav audio from your Zoom folder, plus separate audio files.
  • Guess the client from the participant's file, the meeting topic or the weekly time, and let you rename, merge or drop each one.
  • Bring in the 10 latest sessions by default, skip a recording found twice and join two parts of one meeting into a session.
  • Set aside short and long calls, supervision, your own therapy and groups, and put any of them back.
  • Process each session like a recording: transcript, Summary and note, with the date of the meeting.

Does not promise

  • Appear in an account that already has clients or sessions: the window is only on the welcome screen of a new account, and the app has no other way into it. If you close the welcome, it comes back on the next launch while the account is still empty.
  • Bring the transfer window back once you close or minimize it: the transfer goes on, and the clients and sessions appear in the app.
  • Read Zoom video or chat: only m4a, mp3 and wav audio.
  • Guarantee the right client name: it is a guess, so check the names before you press the button.
  • Always tell a session from supervision or a group: Sessio judges by topic words in Russian and English, the number of people and the length.
  • Bring in anything without your choice: nothing is brought in until you tick the sessions and confirm.

Checked against the Sessio 0.35.0 code and the app help, 1 November 2026.

Questions

Importing from Zoom: answers

What is read, who sees the import and what to do if you already have clients.

How do I transcribe a Zoom recording?

In a new Sessio account, bring the recordings in from the welcome screen: Sessio reads the audio from your Zoom folder, transcribes each session and prepares a Summary and a note. If the account already has clients, open the client's Files tab, drag in the m4a, mp3 or wav, choose "Create session" and set the date.

Which Zoom files does Sessio read?

Only audio: m4a, mp3 and wav. Zoom video and chat are not read. The date and topic come from the name of the Zoom folder, and the client's name from Zoom's separate audio file for each participant, if you switched that recording on in Zoom.

Why can't I see "Bring in sessions from Zoom"?

That line is only on the welcome screen of a new account, which Sessio shows while the account has no clients and no sessions. Once there are clients there is no import window, so add recordings by hand on the client's Files tab. The import is in the Sessio app for a Mac with Apple Silicon.

How many sessions are brought in, and how long does it take?

The 10 latest sessions are ticked by default, and you can tick more in the client cards. Sessio uploads them one by one, oldest first for each client. The app says the first analysis will be ready in a couple of minutes while the rest keep loading, and you can minimize the window.

Where do the brought-in recordings go?

The audio is uploaded to your Sessio account like any uploaded file and, for the transcript, goes to an outside speech-recognition service. The transcript, Summary and note are kept in the cloud, and the original audio for a limited time after processing. Sessio only reads audio files and changes nothing in your folders. You can delete a session, a client or the account at any time.

What if one session did not upload?

Retry it in the client's session list if it is there with an error, or add the recording by hand if it is missing. A session with an error shows a retry button when you point at it; if there is no button, add the recording by hand too: on the client's Files tab drag in the file, choose "Create session" and set the date. The row in the import window shows "Couldn't upload" for the whole client, not for one session.
